Informe de ONG califica de crisis nacional los ataques a la prensa en México

“Silencio o muerte en la prensa mexicana” es el título del informe 2010 del Comité para la Protección de Periodistas (CPJ, por sus nombre en inglés), que da cuenta de una crisis en la libre expresión y el acceso a la información producto del avance del crimen organizado, la violencia y la corrupción.
Según el informe, 22 periodistas han sido asesinados durante el gobierno de Felipe Calderón, con al menos 8 de ellos muertos en represalia directa a su trabajo informativo. La situación en México, asegura el CPJ, es responsabilidad del gobierno federal, que debe poner fin a los numerosos ataques contra la libertad de expresión.
Informar incluso en superficialmente sobre los carteles de droga pone a los periodistas en riesgo, lo que sumado al soborno y la extorsión, tiene grave consecuencias. “A medida que se impone una autocensura generalizada, el futuro de México como sociedad libre y democrática está en riesgo”, resume el CPJ.
